Band Line Up 2016

Quite possibly one of the most influential French Extreme Metal acts in the scene today, MISANTHROPE virtually created the genre back in 1988 by combining elements of pure avant-Garde and traditional Thrash Doom Death. Now, for their efforts, the band has been inducted into Hard Rock and Hard’n’Heavy "Hall of Fame" for their fifth album, “Immortal Misanthrope” - which was originally released by Holy Records Records in 2000.

“Aenigma Mystica“ is Misanthrope's last studio effort; it is also the ninth album released on Holy Records and it chart the french Billboard 200, debuting at #141. Since its initial release in 2013, this seminal record has been constantly selling as a 2CD/DVD set, normal CD with French vocals and a Double CD with English + French, singing version.

 

For over 27 years, Misanthrope have enjoyed an excellent reputation as an independent and exceptionally creative band in the world of Theatrical Extreme Metal sounds. Albums such as Visionnaire (1997) and IrremeDIABLE (2008) are considered classics of their kind. With their blend of Prog Extreme Metal, classical elements and Death/Thrash roots, the musicians are considered pioneers of a stylistic mix which has been emulated by a considerable number of epigones. Now the French quartet is set to unleash its latest recording: THEIR 10TH STUDIO ALBUM will be out on DECEMBER 2016 (Through EMP Europe & Holy Records).

 

S.A.S De l‘Argilière (vocals), Jean-Jacques Moréac (bass), Anthony Scemama (guitar) and Gaël Féret (drums) have recorded a total of 150 songs in their career, among them six numbers like the ingenious ‘Aenigma Mystica’, “Neurosis-Névrose”, “Eden Massacre”, “Emperor of Nothingness”, “Misanthrope Necromancer” and ““Futile Future” with its diverse arrangements to name a few. “Typically Misanthrope, the timeless numbers all have a playing time of between five and seven minutes. As far as I am concerned, that’s just the right time frame to gain sufficient stylistic depth without pushing the envelope or creating artistic ambiguities,” band founder S.A.S De l‘Argilière explains the initial parameters of Misanthrope music. “I feel that we’ve found the right mix of complexity melting French culture and Extreme Metal music. I sing in English and in French, this is the proof that music is beyond language and words. Misanthrope recorded their latest oeuvre at Paris’ Studio Davout on SSL XL 9080 K series console. Aenigma Mystica was produced by Fernando Pereira Lopes, the spectacular cover artwork is expected to be borrowed from an animation created for the album. S.A.S De l’Argilière : “Thematically, the new recording will pick up where our 2008 release “IrremeDIABLE” left off, although the new material is more connected to our extravagant Extreme dementia of Art, History, Sex, Libertine, Dandyism, Christianity and French Culture as ever.” Definitely something to look forward to !

 

France-based Extreme Metal outfit Misanthrope already performed all European Metal Fest (Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Resurrection Fest, Brutal Assault, Sylak etc…) has announced the details for their upcoming Bloodstock Festival Exclusive abroad show for 2016 the first one in UK since 2008 gigs!
