Carpenter Brut is the French darksynth phenomenon created by composer and producer Franck Hueso. Blending the ferocity of metal with 1980s-inspired synths and horror-film atmospheres, his music has become a defining force in the global synthwave scene.
Rising quickly from his self-released EP Trilogy (2012–2015), Carpenter Brut gained worldwide recognition with electrifying live shows and cult hits like Turbo Killer. His debut album, Leather Teeth (2018), reimagined as a “fake movie soundtrack,” kicked off a narrative trilogy that continued with the critically acclaimed Leather Terror (2022). He also composed the soundtrack to the sci-fi film Blood Machines (2020).
On stage, Carpenter Brut is joined by guitarist Adrien Grousset and drummer Florent Marcadet (both from the metal band Hacride), delivering high-voltage performances at festivals such as Coachella, Hellfest, SXSW, and venues from the Olympia to the Zénith de Paris.
His music has appeared in films, trailers, and video games including Hotline Miami 2, Furi, and The Rise of the Synths documentary. With a sound that fuses cinematic nostalgia, heavy riffs, and relentless beats, Carpenter Brut has carved his place as one of the most distinctive voices in electronic music today.
In 2026, Carpenter Brut will bring his dark cinematic vision to one of the UK’s most prestigious heavy music gatherings—headlining the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock Open Air on Sunday, August 9th.
