BAELFYR

Baelfyr are a five piece Blackened Death Metal band from Peterborough Cambridgeshire, formed, initially, in 2023 and after some personnel changes the lineup was completed in mid 2024 shortly after which they entered the studio with Neil Hudson of Grindfarm Studios to record and release their debut tracks ‘Disciples’ and ‘Time, the Great Betrayer’ which were received with overwhelming positivity, gaining a significant amount of radio play and industry support and securing a packed calendar of gigs for 2025.
Baelfyr aim to produce a sound that retains the raw and brutal nature of old school black and death metal, whilst removing many of the barriers that are often associated with extreme music and allowing their music to be far more accessible, focusing lyrically on subjects such as social ills, mental health and abuse, the hope is that their audience is able to connect with their music in a meaningful way.
The band were back in the studio with Neil in April 2025 to record their first EP ‘Empowered by Hatred’ which releases on the 8th of August this year.
To grace the stage at Bloodstock is surely a dream for every metal band and certainly for those based in the UK, so it’s an absolute honour to have been chosen to play on the New Blood Stage at this year’s festival.
Bloodstock veterans will be well aware of the calibre of every band that has played the festival in the past and to now put our mark on the festival and be a part of that history is a privilege that can’t be understated.
This is a huge milestone for us and to have achieved it in such a short length of time is a testament to the hard work that we’ve put in to crafting our sound and songs. We’ve had many hurdles and struggles, both personally and as a group but through determination and our bond as musicians we’ve overcome them all and achieved great things.
We’re incredibly excited to bring our own brand of blackened death metal to the grounds of Catton Hall and have the opportunity to bring our music to a wider audience
