The ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ finals have rocked to a conclusion and some more lucky young bands are joining the New Blood stage at Catton Park next month, plus there's a few last additions for the Sophie and Jagermeister stages. BALLS DEEP bring their trad groove metal to the Sophie Lancaster stage. The Brit outfit have been busy honing their ‘Pro-Pain cut with Black Sabbath’ sound, coming on like the bastard sons of Pantera and classic heavy metal. Over on the Jagermeister stage, female-fronted power metallers ACELDAMA will be impressing allcomers with their high octane performance and audience interaction, while New Blood stage stoner rocker’s RESIN will be offering an additional acoustic spin on their new material. Meanwhile, the New Blood stage welcomes the last clutch of winners from the last batch of M2TM roadshow finals. GOAT LEAF bring their doom groove from the Sheffield heats, OAKHAART’s tech death noise hails from Gloucestershire, impressing judges at the Bristol event, SINPATHETIC grace us with their death metal from the Preston night, ERADIKATOR’s thrash metal won out in Birmingham, and lastly but not least, CACODAEMONIC’s unholy, neo-classical infused death metal represents Nottingham.

With BLOODSTOCK just three weeks away, the festival goblins have been hard at work locking in all the party fun for your annual metal weekender. Once the bands are done each day, the after-hours entertainment in the big top Sophie Stage borders on legendary, so be sure to rock up to Catton Park early on Thursday 7th, pitch your tent and get your beer on in time for the evening’s proceedings. On Thursday night from 10.30pm, the Warm Up Party will be in full swing, running through ‘til 3am. Come on out, hear the best metal tracks from the house DJs, meet your fellow Bloodstockers and make new friends for the weekend. On Friday, the Sophie Stage features Live Band Karaoke! Do you think you’re the next Dio or Doro? Get up on stage with the house band and show Bloodstock what you’ve got! They play the song and you belt out the words, which will be up on the screens if you need ‘em, just like real karaoke. Come to the Sophie stage during the day and check out what tracks you could sing from the list available, then be back to register your name and chosen song with the stage crew when the fun happens between 10.30 and midnight. The heavy metal continues through to 3am with BLOODSTOCK’s very own ‘house’ 4 DJs of the Apocalypse. Saturday’s fun is BLOODSTOCK’s Got Talent! Have you got a musical skill that you want to show off to thousands of metal fans?! With a full band rig on stage, maybe you want to get up and show off drum skills like Gene Hoglan, bass licks like Cliff Burton or solo away like you’re Dave Mustaine! The crowd will get to vote by throwing their metal horns aloft in support (or will you get the Horn of Doom and have to leave the stage)?! Come by and win prizes from your BLOODSTOCK’s Got Talent team! When the fun is done, the 4DJs of the Apocalypse will take you through to 3am with metal classics, Hellfire performances, dancers and guest DJs. Sunday sees the BLOODSTOCK Farewell Party running to 3am, so get those last drinks drunk with your new friends and vow to meet again next year to do it all over again!
Returning for another year are BLOODSTOCK’s chosen charity, Teenage Cancer Trust – the only charity dedicated to supporting the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer throughout the UK – who will once again be running their popular T-shirt Amnesty. Festival-goers can bring along their old, unwanted rock and metal shirts to donate, or pick up a vintage bargain at the Teenage Cancer Trust stall. They also have some brand new, box-fresh T-shirts for less than £10 each! Anyone can donate band merchandise they no longer want in order to help the charity’s coffers… a bit like a festival charity shop! They’ll also be selling Teenage Cancer Trust merchandise (wristbands, badges, T-shirts, etc) and holding a daily raffle featuring cool prizes, including an exclusive Phil Lynott print, a Velvet Revolver signed guitar and a bag of signed KISS goodies, including a signed drum skin and sticks. Keep an eye out for the Teenage Cancer Trust bucket collectors too.
This year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival will feature a storming set from the winners of the ‘Hobgoblin presents Bloodstock’s Metal 2 The Masses video upload band search. Kill All The Gentlemen, hailing from Exeter have been crowned winners of the Hobgoblin competition – the band wowed the judges with their video exhibiting exactly why they deserve to play the New Blood stage at this years festival. Joanne Wyke, brand manager for Wychwood Brewery said: “We’ll be congratulating KATG by inviting them to the brewery to toast their win. “Hobgoblin is proud of its ongoing sponsorship of Bloodstock and dedication to new music - we’ll certainly be cheering them on at this year’s festival, with a pint of Hobgoblin in our other hand of course!” Bloodstock takes place at Catton Park in Derbyshire on August 7-10 this year. It’s an annual celebration of all things metal, and features some of the biggest heaviest bands on the planet. Now KATG can count themselves amongst that number with their M2TM win, and they’ll have some new tracks to promote, too. Their winning video was for a track off their recent EP. “We were amazed when we got the email telling us we’d won,” said Olan Parkinson of KATG. “We can’t thank Hobgoblin enough,” Olan added. “Not just for allowing us to basically have some free publicity for a year with our videos on their website, but also for giving new bands a great incentive to get out there playing live shows.” check out the bands YouTube clip below : Check KATG out at https://www.facebook.com/killallthegentlemen
