June 13th will see the release of a very limited number of VIP tickets for this year’s Bloodstock Open Air festival. VIP ticket holders will be able to enjoy private food and bar facilities, private washrooms and access to the VIP area, with a special access pass - and a limited edition Bloodstock wallet for beer money.

A reserved patch of grass to pitch your tent (and park your car).

Arrive on site to find your tent already pitched ready and waiting with air beds and brand new sleeping bags (and park your car).

Tipi Package (sleeps 2, 4 or 6)
For 2 people, 4 people or 6 people
Sleep under canvas in true Indian style! Arrive on site to find your tipi furnished and ready to move into. Worried about the weather? Don’t be! Should the weather prove inclement, rain catchers and porches will be fitted to help with wet weather.
Your Tipi tent will be furnished with:

Coconut matting

Yurts Package

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that NWOBHM legends PRAYING MANTIS have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2008.

Praying Mantis were formed by brothers Tino and Chris Troy in the mid ‘70s and they later became part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement which swept the UK in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, producing bands such as Saxon, Def Leppard, Diamond Head and most famously, Iron Maiden. Pursuing a direction which was more melodic and AOR-orientated than most of their homeland contemporaries, the band issued their debut album ‘Time Tells No Lies’ in 1981 to widespread critical acclaim. Management and line-up instability, however, quickly undermined their success and after two further singles, the band temporarily split and remained inactive until 1991’s comeback album ‘Predator In Disguise’ which featured ex-Iron Maiden guitarist Dennis Stratton. Since then, the band have continued to record regularly and play selected live dates and their forthcoming BOA show marks a rare opportunity to witness Praying Mantis perform on home turf.

Speaking out about playing this year's Bloodstock, Praying Mantis has issued the following statement: "We are really looking forward to playing Bloodstock this year. This is our first open air festival in the UK for a number of years but you can be sure that we will give you a set to remember. The stone faced rockers may well recall us from the crazy days of the New wave of British heavy metal, but no doubt will be surprised to hear the vibrance and vitality of the classic heavy rock sound as it is today."

Voting for the UK wide initiative Metal 2 The Masses has opened. Bloodstock was inundated with venues wanting to host their own heats in order to put forward 4 bands to represent their area. All the voters have to do is go to the forum page on www.bloodstock.uk.com and click on the unsigned section and well, basically...vote for the band of your choice at each venue. From over 50 venue applicants we selected hosts at Alton, Birmingham, Derby, Glasgow, Kent and Swindon. Each of these partner venues held several heats over March, April and May to find the best Metal bands in and around their county.

Bloodstock's Clive Leighton who heads up the Unsigned Stages and Marquees personally handling M2TM "winning bands will be announced on 01 July and they'll all earn a place on the Bloodstock Unsigned stage. This year we're proud to have Scuzz TV sponsoring those unsigned bands and for 2008 the stage will be within the Scuzz Underground Marquee. Band interviews and performance footage by Scuzz will be appearing on the market leading Rock TV station. This prominence gives the bands more than just a Festival appearance and that's what being part of the Bloodstock family is all about. I'm also looking forward to announcing more developments in line with the planning for 2009 as we ensure that we uncover all the emerging talent out there. In addition to the Scuzz Underground Marquee, Bloodstock will also repeat the success of the Lava Stage, this year within the Guitar Hero 3 Marquee which will feature GH3, DJs, Karaoke and each evening - specially selected bands. At the Festival itself there will be opportunities to vote for the Bloodstock 2008 Breakthrough band from all the unsigned acts appearing at BOA 2008. That band will benefit from all year round support and championing from Bloodstock - with more details to follow!

So how do you get your band onto either of the Support Stages?

• through the website- please write to webmaster@bloodstock.uk.com. Bands will be voted for on the strength of their footage in 3 Metal categories with an overall website winner performing on the main stage. Last year's winner came from Costa ica........so anything's possible!

• through Metal 2 The Masses - applications are closed for 2008 but you can vote throughout June for your area winners. Venues should make contact now if they want to be a partner host for 2009

• through Festival submission - Bloodstock's Resident Metal Guru Lee Heydon wil trawl through the mountains of cds, mp3s and emails. In all cases, please write directly to;
