Showsec has been awarded the contract to supply a comprehensive security and crowd management service to Bloodstock Festival.

Bloodstock organiser Paul Gregory says: “We are delighted to confirm Showsec will manage all elements of the festival security, ensuring the health and safety of everyone on site, moving forwards from this landmark 10th anniversary festival. We are proud of our independent status which drives our commitment to produce the best event for our ‘festival family’ of audience, artists and staff.”

“We were aware that Showsec was the industry leader, but to be sure they suited our event, prior to making our decision we (the organisers) went undercover to various gigs in Showsec’s portfolio, where the company’s consistent customer service and extensive experience confirmed our beliefs.

Bloodstock will be held on 13th to 15th August at Catton Hall in Derby, the festival has grown substantially in the ten years since its conception. paul continues: “From its humble beginning in 2001, when we hosted a crowd of 800, the festival has seen 30 to 40% growth year on year, and in 2010 we are expecting 12,000 people per day over 3 days. As a result we have invested in our strongest ever line-up, with our first arena tour bands such as Heaven and Hell. This increase in size makes it imperative we engage professional suppliers to help us improve the festival experience. Showsec are the perfect partner to assist us in taking Bloodstock to the next level.”

Richard Church, Showsec East Midlands area manager, will project manage the festival this year. He says: “There is a perception in the industry that we only supply the larger festivals, but in truth we have a flexible service that can be adapted to deliver results in any environment. It’s great for us to be involved with a growing independent festival, applying the knowledge and the high levels of service that Showsec is synonymous with, as Bloodstock establishes itself as a major player on the UK circuit.”

Yet again Bloodstock has its eyes firmly fixed on the bands of tomorrow and in doing so we are now looking at another opportunity for unsigned bands to make their mark on Bloodstock Open Air 2010.

At the end of 2009 we reviewed the variables that made the online Bloodstock unsigned competition fair to all users and decided to remove page views and Downloads per video, which now means a band is now judged on one variable, which is closed votes that are registered on the Bloodstock website .

The Bloodstock online competition will have a winner from category A, B and C , the overall winning band will get to play a prime slot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage and the other two bands will play on the Bloodstock Unsigned stage .

Bands wishing to register and enter will have the opportunity to upload videos and files and spread their metal love .

The Competition will close at midnight on June 30th, all votes will then be counted by the Bloodstock Webmaster and the winners from the competition will be informed and announced on the Bloodstock website on July 1st 2010 .

So get ready for a bombardment of metal splendour and a cast your vote today .

MANOWAR DRUMMER SCOTT COLUMBUS TO JOIN ROSS THE BOSS ON STAGE

German thrashers HOLY MOSES are the latest band to join the BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2010 line up. Lead by feisty frontwoman SABINA CLASSEN, HOLY MOSES burst onto the international metal arena in the 80s, demanding attention with their violent, aggressive thrash and SABRINA’s gargling-broken-glass vocals. A firm favourite in the underground thrash scene, HOLY MOSES have enjoyed a cult status for the duration of their long career, always staying true to their convictions and never deviating from their brutal thrash ethos. SABINA looks forward to the band’s first ever UK festival appearance:

We are very happy to play Bloodstock for the first time - it’s also the very first time for us playing live at a festival in the UK. We are proud that we can play with my friend Doro, so the fans in the UK will get a full package of German female voices power, this year at Bloodstock Festival. Hope to see you ALL. Thrash On.

In other BLOODSTOCK news, MANOWAR drummer SCOTT COLUMBUS has confirmed he will be joining ROSS THE BOSS on stage at the 10th anniversary event for a very special set. Half of MANOWAR on stage is still twice as metal as most, with their set promising to be one of the festival highlights as they tear through MANOWAR faves, and is not to be missed!
