The band is the brainchild of Rich Ward and Chris Jericho,
two larger-than-life personalities that have spent the past decade shaping
their own brand of hard hitting music. Ward is one of metal’s pioneers – as the
mastermind of Stuck Mojo, he soldered metal with rhythmic vocals long before it
became fashionable, touring the world with some of metal’s biggest bands and
being hailed as one of Pantera legend Dimebag Darrell and Black Label
Society/former Ozzy Osbourne axe man Zakk Wylde’s favourite guitarists. And
frontmen don’t come more dynamic than Chris Jericho, one of professional
wrestling’s biggest superstars, the embodiment of charisma, and the by-product
of a lifetime immersed in metal.
When the band’s fourth studio album, “Chasing the Grail”,
was released in 2010 it debuted at No. 6 on the USA’s Billboard Heatseeker’s
chart. Without a doubt it showed just how much musical ground FOZZY have
conquered since the release of their first single in 2000, a faithful cover of
the Krokus classic “Eat the Rich”. Look no further than “Let the Madness
Begin,” which was the most-downloaded single on Amazon in the USA from Feb. 22
– March 10, 2010. The track has helped drive FOZZY to new heights in the metal
world, where they appeared at the Knebworth Sonisphere festival in July of 2011
alongside metal’s Big 4 – Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. FOZZY were awarded
a marquee, show-opening performance at the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards,
where Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl helped call them to the stage, and
Jericho remained to host the night’s festivities. In total Jericho has hosted
the past three Golden Gods Awards in America.
Over the years FOZZY have emerged as a worldwide force on
the touring circuit, including a successful string of dates on the 2011
Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival – they were invited back this year, and
will be featured on the entire summer tour in America. The band has become the
driving force for the six-time WWE wrestling champion, even earning the
spotlight in “Undisputed” – Jericho’s second New York Times best-selling book,
and first to crack the Top 10.
Also, Jericho made the Top 7 as a contestant on season 10 of
“Dancing with the Stars” – one of the biggest television shows in the world. Release
Date: August 13th, 2012 Bassist Paul Di Leo added an additional hint of stardom
when he joined FOZZY in the fall of 2011, as he has been touring and recording
with international superstar Nena since 2001. While working with Nena, he has
received (2) platinum and (2) gold records, including those that he was awarded
as one of the co-writers of Nena’s “Willst du mit mir gehen” CD. In the past,
Di Leo has also performed and recorded with various artists including Billy
Joel, Paul Simon, Carly Simon, Lauryn Hill, Joe Lynn Turner, Steve Gadd, Howard
Jones, Kim Wilde, Enrique Iglesias, Ace Frehley, Toots Thieleman, Kathie Lee Gifford,
M-People, Sandi Saraya, Mitch Malloy and Adrenaline Mob, just to name a few.
It’s finally time for a new chapter with “Sin And Bones”,
FOZZY’s new studio album and debut release with Century Media Records. Frontman
Chris Jericho comments, "It's the typical cliché, but ‘Sin And Bones’
really is the best thing we've ever done. We've taken the heavy yet
ultramelodic style that has become FOZZY's trademark to the next level and I
guarantee these songs will blow all of you away!" A couple of the band’s friends
even stopped by the studio, including guest vocalist M Shadows on their first
single “Sandpaper,” and Motörhead’s Phil Campbell, who contributes a guitar
solo on “She’s My Addiction”.
July 2012 saw them playing the United Kingdom, where they
appeared at the Download Festival alongside metal titans such as Metallica and
Black Sabbath. They performed at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards - which
Chris Jericho hosted - and played sold-out shows with Ugly Kid Joe and Soil.
After years of non-stop touring in Europe, the band will embark on their first US
tour ever, joining fellow heavyweights Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Papa
Roach on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival.
Needless to say, FOZZY are already working on coming back to
Europe for more high profile touring.
