"Bow down mortals! Meet the new Queen of Shred! The
Norwegian guitar supremo is one hell of a player. This one-women Metal
Hurricane is smashing her way through the underground with her mix of great
songwriting, face-ripping shredding and a refusal to listen to the few cynical
wallies out there who judge her on image and not talent!"
METAL HAMMER
That was how Metal Hammer UK introduced the 22 year old
Norwegian 7 string guitarist/singer/songwriter
to their readers, with a full page feature in January 2012.
An official Ibanez artist, playing the Prototype Falchion 7,
the only of its kind in the world. After being praised by independent radio
DJs, reviewers and fans for her previous Demos as "the music this decade
has long been waiting for" (Mike Mitchell, bcb radio), she disappeared for
almost a year, while working on artist development and her songwriting. She
credits her guitar mentor, 7 string virtuoso Ramon Ortiz (Puya, Ankla) for her
remarkable progress as a lead guitarist. Her focus was mainly on technical
riffs/rhythm guitar, until she met him in 2010.
She released her debut EP "Evolution" on February
15th 2012, produced by legendary PANTERA producer Sterling Winfield (Pantera,
Hatebreed, Hellyeah). After hearing her Demo recording Winfield said;
"When the unique talents of The Commander-In-Chief crossed my desk a few
months ago I was blown away! This was definitely new and different! In my
twenty plus years as a producer and engineer I can honestly say that I have
never seen or heard anything like what she has to offer. Killer guitar driven
progressive hard rock, along with an unbelievable over the top vocal
style!"
After recording her debut Album he made this statement;
"I would first like to say thank you again to “The
Commander” and Elisabeth Hagen for giving me the opportunity to work on such an
original project. It is refreshing to work on a recording that is nothing like
everything else that is going on in music currently.
Furthermore, as a producer and engineer for the last
twenty-¬‐one years, I feel that the following needs to be said for many
reasons:
I am very proud to acknowledge the fact that what you are hearing is all 100% musician played performances! During the course of listening to these songs, you will NOT hear one drum hit that was moved around, placed on a grid, “Sound Replaced” or augmented in any way whatsoever. You will also NOT hear “Auto-¬‐ Tuner”, “Melodyne” or any other vocal tuning software of ANY kind!
That being said, I will answer the burning question looming in your minds… Yes, “The Commander In Chief” played ALL of the guitars you’re hearing, and sang every single note. Not only did she do all of this, but she did it all with more great attitude, and professionalism than a lot of the veteran musicians I know that have been doing this almost longer than she has been alive. All of the musicians that played on this project were truly great! They all performed above and beyond the call of duty and I was proud to be a part of it.
I think that it is important to mention these things so that
listeners and musicians
alike can see that music can be made without all of the
trappings or abuse of digital recording tools. This experience was also proof
to me that there are musicians out there that still take pleasure in
playing/singing and relying upon the discipline it takes to do so. Thanks for
listening, and please enjoy!!! "
The Commander-In-Chief is very excited to be on the roster for Bloodstock Open Air this year! She brings with her to the stage her world class drummer Hanns M (The Defiled, M.A.S.S.A.C.R.E)
